Earth Charter+10 planning2010 represents the 10th year since the launch of the Earth Charter. ECI is planning to have a number of activities and events organized around this and encourages individuals and organizations from around the world to organize activities locally.
EC Congress: “Values for Life and Business” in Spain in November 2009
The 5th Earth Charter Congress in Madrid, Spain will take place on 14 and 15 November 2009 under the theme “Values for Life and Business”. The purpose of this event is to create a space where participants can debate about economic challenges, and its relationship with environmental and social concerns, as well as the urgent need for responsible action from all for building a better world. EC congress in Italy (in November): “Web of Life - towards an integrated vision of reality”In the framework of the UN Decade for Education for Sustainable Development, Fondazione Cogeme Onlus is organizing, in cooperation with Municipality of Castegnato, the Earth Charter congress “WEB OF LIFE - Towards an Integrated Vision of Reality.” The event will take place at the student’s hall of the Engineering Faculty at the University of Brescia on 28 November 2009. New EC community project by a Municipal Library in Czech Republic
The Municipal Library in Sedlčany has chosen the Earth Charter as the theme for this year community project entitled Lukášek. For more information click here.
Earth Charter events held in Switzerland
With the purpose of introducing the Earth Charter values to various groups of the Swiss public, three EC events were held in Switzerland this autumn organized by ECI Affiliate, Christa Schmidmeister. This included an event at the Lifefair 2009 - the national futuristic fair which serves as a platform for public discourse on three main topics: Economy, Environment and Society and promoting sustainability and “green” (sustainable) in the country. Youth Team sets up an Earth Charter Radio Campaign
An EC Radio Campaign consisting of 4 radio spots introducing the Earth Charter and its principles in sustainability was developed by the Earth Charter Youth Leadership Team! For more click here.
EC events planned at the Parliament of Religions in Melbourne, Australia
The EC Task Force on Religion, Spirituality, and Ethics will be organizing several events at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Melbourne (from 3 to 9 December 2009) - the largest multi-faith gathering of religious and spiritual leaders in world history, attracting from 8,000 to 10,000 guests from 80 countries.
